Description

A unique opportunity awaits those who book their special day at this château. The venue provides many options to create a one-of-a-kind event. Our wonderful bi-lingual staff will help to make your dreams come true. Your ceremony can be held in the open air or in the château’s 11th century Lord’s chapel. Or, you can get married in the church in the village, and afterward lead the wedding party up to the castle. It is possible to begin your event in the garden and continue within the chateau's inner spaces.

Receptions held on the great lawn in front of the moat for 120 offer a superb view of the castle. On the other side of the drawbridge, within fortified walls, an open-air courtyard can accommodate an aperitif or buffet for 75, or a sit-down dinner for up to 60 guests.

Music, food, and bar stations can be set up throughout the property. For intimate dinner parties, guests will be invited to sit down in the Lord’s dining room for a fantasy come true. Yes, there are thrones from the 15th-century table in front of the enormous fireplace. Yes, there are crowns for the guests of honor, and a massive medieval chandelier and armor in the corner. This room can accommodate 12 people at the main table, and 20 if another table is set up. The front lawn can accommodate 120 guests for a reception or an aperitif.

The village boasts beautiful pastoral landscapes along the Aveyron river with wonderful views of the château from its historic bridge, just across from a Michelin-starred restaurant. The château is primarily a venue only, and with the exception of the tower suite, but accommodations for about 100 guests are available in the village in gites, B&B’s and a hotel. (reservations required).

The Château is a historic landmark normally open to the public. About 30,000 visitors every season are welcomed to enjoy a self-guided tour throughout the fortress and discover the history, architecture, and exhibition spaces within it. People often comment about the wonderful experience of feeling so much life within the ancient stones. Your guests will be invited to take a complimentary guided tour or follow their feet to explore on their own. The château’s rich history begins in its 8th-century pre-Romanesque chapel.

On the day of your event part of the property is privatized for your wedding party at 13:00h. Our lovely upper garden area is the perfect place for an “inner circle” luncheon. This area has a cool, medieval gazebo, plenty of courtyard seating, space for a little buffet, and convenient access to the wedding parties' private rooms. The space within the castle for the wedding party includes a huge bathroom, and a large sitting room with a dining table that seats 14. There is wifi and a crib area. The private pool garden area is yours for a spectacular photo shoot. It is also an extremely fun place for a pool party the day after. Swimming in the pool next to the vaulting tower with a view of the landscape is a guaranteed epic memory.

During the low season, it's prices in low season start at €4,500 HT for a six hour reception for up to 120 people from 19:00h- 1:00h, (and access to the property for the wedding party begins at 13:00h). Included is a large commercial kitchen for the caterer, available at 14:00h. Guests have free municipal parking, just above the castle, and have access to the property until 1:00h. The principal exterior reception areas are on the main lawn, in front of the moat, in the main courtyard, an upper garden courtyard, a secret “ruins courtyard”, and on a bridge above the main courtyard with its panoramic view. Bar and buffet stations may be set up outside and within the château as well, and there is plenty of room to have the whole party inside.

Location

Occitanie Wedding VenuesOccitanie is a mixture of Languedoc-Roussillon and Midi-Pyrénées. Languedoc-Roussillon is known for their Mediterranean cuisine and it stretches from the famous Rhone River to the Spanish border.

This region can offer a great climate with an absolutely stunning coastline. You will also find that Carcassonne is here, and the Canal Du Midi is the perfect place for you to spend your first moments as husband and wife. The other region here is Midi-Pyrénées. This takes its name from The Pyrénées, which is the mountain which runs right through it. It is actually the largest region in France when you look at the size, and the rivers there are phenomenal. This alone makes it a sublime wedding location, so if you want to take some spectacular photos by the river or if you want the best, city-scenic backdrop then this is certainly the right location for you.

Getting there is very easy, and for the coastal properties there are often boat rides available if you wanted to treat your guests to something really special. This is just one of the many reasons why so many people choose this location as their number one wedding destination, and the natural scenery is not to be missed.

  • We looked long and hard for a castle to get married in - my partner and I wanted the unpolished ruggedness of an ancient fortress that has seen tides of history, and skipped many a 'castle' that was just a shiny vacation home for the rich. When I came across this Chateau, I dropped everything and said to my partner: "This is the one. This is where we're getting married."

This fortress is a hidden gem. Even our local French friends and family were all struck by its splendor; I will never forget the gasps in the car when we drove past the tall trees of the forest to see this fortress reveal itself to us, centuries of history standing before our eyes. It felt surreal all the way throughout our stay -- the ancient stones beneath our feet, the beautiful little town below us that stood as if preserved out of a fairy tale, the lush green forests and their fluffy little sheep. There's a sense of peace here that feels as if time is standing still.

Planning a wedding from abroad is never an easy task, but despite our worries, the wedding was wonderfully organized. Through video calls and emails, owner Heidi and her assistant Augustina worked with us to figure out vendors, schedules, florals, gift baskets for the guests, food - and boy, was it good food. (A friend told me that the foie gras ravioli we had as reception appetizer was the best food she had during her travel through France!) Augustina deserves an award for her brilliant project managing skills, and I can still hear Lea the intern's beautiful voice translating for us during the ceremony. And of course, we will never forget the kindness of owners Heidi and Luc -- from driving us to a bakery to find cake at the eleventh hour to feeding us special delicacies during our afterparty, Heidi went above and beyond to take care of us as people, not just paying clients; it was obvious that she was genuinely happy for us every time we saw her, and her cheerful smile always lit up a room. Luc was an inspiration as he shared his passion with us regarding the castle and told us grand stories as we drank and laughed together. It felt truly like a family, and after the surreal, magical weekend was over, I actually cried while we drove away as Heidi saw us off.

If you're hesitating on pulling the trigger on this venue for your event, run, don't walk, to this gorgeous castle. (Or fly, if you're not local.) As a Californian, I can assure you that having an event in this spectacular venue was not actually more expensive than having an event where we live, where the best 'historic' venue one can find is typically some colonial manor house, and who wants THAT energy when you could dream of knights and kings within these stone walls overlooking a fairytale town?

  • Our wedding at a French Chateau felt like a fantasy straight out of a fairytale. There’s some kind of magic and beauty in this Fortress, in both the castle and village itself that not only is it felt there but comes through beautifully in our wedding photos. Both I and my husband look back on that special day and we’re transported back, the smells and all the feels come rushing through. The grounds are fantastic, well manicured and there are several great spots to get married at. The staff and especially Heidi were so helpful in every aspect of our planning. Since we were communicating from abroad, NYC, we were dependent on them to help us find a caterer and also someone to do our flowers. We decided on a Spanish chef, who Heidi suggested, to make paella and create an appetizer spread that was sublime! Everyone was well fed and just having the chef there making the food in front of us was another level of wonderful. For our flowers we asked based on something we liked online and using lots of lavender and flowers from the local area. They were simply breathtaking and the shop that did them truly took our breath away with their presentation. It was exactly what we wanted and they even threw in some edible flowers to spread over our croquembouche tower wedding cake. My husband and I also stayed two nights in one of the towers. The staff kept everything fully stocked and they provided a breakfast each morning overlooking the village. Heidi and her staff were so knowledgeable about things for our wedding guests to do outside of the village and helped them with where to go and set up certain visits. I had one friend who wanted to go horseback riding and they knew just the right ranch to go to. Our wedding was done and we had stayed at the Fortress for a solid week and not only did we feel like family with everyone at the Chateau but so did our wedding guests. I cannot express more how beautiful, magical and accommodating this was for us.
